Tommi’s Burger Joint Oxford Review

It was 17:30. I had just finished work (for those of you that don’t know I work in central Oxford), and I wanted to get something fairly quick and tasty to eat for dinner before heading out for the evening.

I tend to try and avoid fast food as much as I can help it, so I was trying to think of somewhere that I could eat something filling and fairly quickly but without it being ridiculously unhealthy. The Westgate Social sprang to mind.

The Westgate Social, much like most of Oxford city centre has unfortunately seen some businesses come and go since opening in October 2017, but one of the businesses that have managed to stay since the opening of the refurbished Westgate is Tommi’s Burger Joint.

So I thought to myself they must be doing something right, so why don’t I do a full review and document it on my blog whilst getting something quick and convenient to eat.

On first impressions I’ve always liked the location of this place, they have a nice little corner which has its own entrance out to where the Westgate bus stops are. It’s also bright and spacious.

Food and Drink

So let’s get into the important bit, the food. I decided to go for the chicken burger with cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, onion and tomato (did I say I was trying to be healthy?) with a side of sweet potato fries and a diet coke to drink. Total cost = approx £20 all in.

I did like the array of sauces on offer and how they called it ‘Pimp my burger’.

The sweet potato fries were excellent, the portion size was very generous too. Realistically these are too much for one person but I still ate them all!

Now that is a good looking burger. I can confirm it tastes as good as it looks. The only downside was that the burger was far too big for its bun, so it did get quite messy with bits falling outside the bun. That being said it was very tasty and a good chicken burger.

Conclusion and final thoughts

So I was after a fairly quick dinner that wasn’t too unhealthy. I think in the end I got what I came for. The portion sizes were decent and all was said and done by 18:00 (bearing in mind I leave work at 17:30 which is a 5-10 minute walk away).

Will I be coming back? Well, if I’m near the Westgate and fancy a quick bite to eat I will for sure be coming back. It is definitely now my favourite place in the Westgate Social having tried all of the other places there too.
